Did you know?

The Trevi Fountain is nearly 26 meters high and 49 meters wide, making it the largest Baroque fountain in Rome.

About €3,000 in coins are tossed into the fountain every day—over €1.5 million annually—which is collected and donated to charity.

The fountain is built at the junction of three streets ("tre vie"), which is how it got its name.

The central figure is Oceanus (often called Neptune), riding a shell-shaped chariot pulled by two contrasting seahorses—one calm, one wild.

The water source for the fountain is the ancient Aqua Virgo aqueduct, originally constructed in 19 BCE and still in use today.

Why visit Trevi Fountain?

Baroque Artistic Marvel

Admire the breathtaking sculptures of Oceanus, seahorses, and tritons, all carved in exquisite detail against the Palazzo Poli. The fountain’s grandeur and artistry are a testament to Rome’s Baroque legacy.

Legendary Coin-Toss Ritual

Join the world-famous tradition of tossing a coin over your shoulder into the fountain’s waters. Legend promises a return to Rome, making this interactive ritual a highlight for visitors of all ages.

Vibrant Piazza Atmosphere

Experience the lively energy of Piazza di Trevi, surrounded by charming cafés, gelaterias, and bustling Roman streets. The fountain’s setting is perfect for people-watching and soaking up local culture.

Enchanting Nighttime Illumination

See the Trevi Fountain transformed after dark, when over 100 LED lights bathe the marble sculptures in a magical glow. Evening visits offer a more tranquil, photogenic experience.

Hidden Underground Ruins

Explore the Vicus Caprarius archaeological site beneath the fountain, where ancient Roman houses and aqueducts reveal the city’s layered history. This unique underground tour adds depth to your visit.

Plan your visit

Central Staircase Entrance

Located at the front of the Trevi Fountain on Piazza di Trevi, this is the main and only official entrance for visitors during managed hours (9am–9pm). The wide staircase is easy to spot and is equipped with ramps for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. Security staff are present during peak hours to assist and manage the flow of visitors.

Via dei Crociferi Exit

After enjoying the fountain, visitors are directed to exit via a dedicated gate onto Via dei Crociferi. This exit is step-free and suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, ensuring a smooth departure from the plaza. Please follow signage and staff instructions for a seamless visit.

Since we bought our tickets in advance, we didn't have to wait in a long line to buy them at the venue. We got in right on time—it was super quick. The place is truly impressive and beautiful; it was an experience worth repeating. The audio guide we chose helped us learn more about the Pantheon, which made us feel more connected to the monument.

I had a great tour with Sharon! She is very knowledgeable about the history of the sites we stopped at, was able to answer all of our questions, and even gave us tips as local. The tour was on schedule without feeling rushed and covered Trevi Fountain as well as other notable sites in the area. I highly recommend this tour with Sharon as your guide!

It was extremely difficult to get the ticket because there were apparently incorrect announcements about where to pick it up. A 40-minute walk, a missed time slot at the Colosseum—really a bummer. Why can’t you get the ticket online? Then I had to make several in-person visits to two offices; the staff were super friendly and super helpful. I would never book this ticket again—it’s too unclear what’s included, too expensive, and too old-fashioned.
