The purchase and entry system is very good and recommendable. It worked perfectly and we avoided the long lines. You still have to wait in line but it goes fast. The only criticism would be that it is promoted as guided access and can be confused with a guide or audio guide (not included, paid separately) and only consists of recommendations on how to access and a line with priority access. The rest is ok

The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke passionately about the history of Rome and the Catholic Church!!! It would have been difficult to do the whole route without the help of someone who knows his way around.

Skip long queues at entry as a host escorts you to the Museums or wing it with direct entry. No matter your choice, you are in for an artistic ride spanning decades.

Marvel at renaissance artworks

The Vatican Museums are home to many classical sculptures, tapestries, and paintings by Renaissance greats such as Raphael, Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Bernini, and Leonardo da Vinci. A section of the museum is also dedicated to Modern Religious Art.

Watch out for the only painting by Vincent Van Gogh that graces the Vatican Museums - his very own rendition of The Pieta. Drawing inspiration from Eugene Delacroix, this is the lone work Van Gogh made representing Jesus.

The iconic sections of the Vatican Museums that one should visit are the Raphael Rooms, the Gallery of Maps, the Sala Rotunda, the Gallery of Statues, and the Hall of Busts.

Admire the genius of Michelangelo at Sistine Chapel

Situated at the end of the Vatican Museums and neighboring St. Peter's Basilica is the famed Sistine Chapel. Originally built in the 15th century, its walls and ceilings have since been covered by some of the most astounding frescoes ever produced.

The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is especially renowned, animated with over 300 figures. Intricately painted by Michelangelo over 5 years in the 16th century, it is considered a cornerstone of Western art. The Last Judgement covers the wall behind the altar in the Sistine Chapel and is one of the most famous artworks worldwide.
