It was a great day. The crowd was very large, but we were not able to see all the works in the museum due to lack of time.

Simplicity of the formalities to get the "queue-cutting" tickets allowing us to complete a 3-hour guided tour made the same morning with another operator, a tour that did not allow us, for lack of time, to visit a certain number of museums (Pinacoteca, Gregorian museums, modern and contemporary art.....).

It was an unforgettable visit, starting with the person who validated our tickets, the people who took care of our backpacks and the entire collection. It's a unique museum!

Skip long queues at entry as a host escorts you to the Museums or wing it with direct entry. No matter your choice, you are in for an artistic ride spanning decades.

Marvel at renaissance artworks

The Vatican Museums are home to many classical sculptures, tapestries, and paintings by Renaissance greats such as Raphael, Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Bernini, and Leonardo da Vinci. A section of the museum is also dedicated to Modern Religious Art.

Watch out for the only painting by Vincent Van Gogh that graces the Vatican Museums - his very own rendition of The Pieta. Drawing inspiration from Eugene Delacroix, this is the lone work Van Gogh made representing Jesus.

The iconic sections of the Vatican Museums that one should visit are the Raphael Rooms, the Gallery of Maps, the Sala Rotunda, the Gallery of Statues, and the Hall of Busts.

Admire the genius of Michelangelo at Sistine Chapel

Situated at the end of the Vatican Museums and neighboring St. Peter's Basilica is the famed Sistine Chapel. Originally built in the 15th century, its walls and ceilings have since been covered by some of the most astounding frescoes ever produced.

The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is especially renowned, animated with over 300 figures. Intricately painted by Michelangelo over 5 years in the 16th century, it is considered a cornerstone of Western art. The Last Judgement covers the wall behind the altar in the Sistine Chapel and is one of the most famous artworks worldwide.
