Crafted entirely from ice, it pays homage to the city's expedition legacy by recreating the experience of being stranded on the North Pole. The Xtracold Icebar recreates Willem Barentsz and his crew's third attempt at finding the Northeast passage where they were stranded on the island Nova Zembla for almost a year. The crew had set off to find the Northeast Passage, a shorter route to the Indies in 1596 until their ship got stuck between the icebergs and had to sit out the winter and polar bears.
