At birkenau we barely had time to get in, a brief explanation, and out we went. Twenty minutes, even less, compared to the one hour wait. The bus came by an hour earlier than expected precisely to avoid standing in line, which was an hour and a half in the cold on site anyway. However, Daniel was supportive.

The main problem is that we visited the Salt mine first & Not Auschwitz/ Birkanau. by the time we reached Birkinau it was too dark to see anything. it would make more sense to visit the Salt mines later when darkness doesn't matter.

If your hotel location is in an area beyond this or in an area with limited traffic/accessibility, then you will be picked up from the nearest possible pickup place. The tour operator will provide the exact location and pickup time at least a day before your scheduled tour.
