The whole castle is very beautiful, we enjoyed the whole tour, also very good the audio guide in Spanish, only as a suggestion could have audio guide for children and tell the story from the children's point of view.

We had no problem entering the castle. You walk around the castle rather than inside it, but it is very impressive that it has been preserved until today.

I was expecting more of the older history to still be there, it was Hadrians mausoleum, but the is little evidence of this left. Seems like most of it has been removed by subsequent popes.

The path indicated by the audio guide was not the same as the path visitors have to take, so it was difficult to follow it. Also, if you paused for a few minutes, then it would reset and would not resume from the point where I had stopped

A chameleon-like castle with a rich backstory

Castel Sant’ Angelo or ‘castle of the holy angel’ is one of the most remarkable buildings in Italy. Initially built in the year 135AD as a mausoleum for the Roman emperor Hadrian, the monument served as a military building and a place of refuge for popes during the sieges in 1527. Explore the castle, which is now a National Museum, at your own pace. Opt for hosted entry and be escorted straight inside. Spiraling history

Split into five floors that connected by a spiral ramp, you will have access to the chamber of ashes, and the cells in which many historical figures were incarcerated. As you move towards the upper part of the castle, you will also see beautifully decorated rooms that acted as a Papal residence and an extensive collection of ancient weapons. Check out the large terrace on the top floor, where you can wrap up your experience with stunning, panoramic views of Rome.
