Once you board your train, you will reach Florence in a mere 90 minutes, passing the beautiful Tuscan scenery along the way. Your local tour guide will meet you at the station when you arrive before embarking on your walking tour of this glorious city. Florence is often credited with being the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and it is known the world over for the art and architecture that came into being in that remarkable era. This becomes becomes abundantly clear as you walk through this small but magical city since practically every street is the same as it was during the peak of Florence’s fame.
Admire the many squares that dot the city, especially the Piazza della Signoria before you make your way to the Uffizi gallery, housing one of the most important art collections in the world, much of which once belonged to the famous house of Medici, the ruling family of Florence. Skip the sometimes hours long line into the Uffizi gallery, which in itself is a work of art with it’s high frescoed ceilings and many windows and columns. Marvel at the works of masters like Giotto and Botticelli as you meander through this elegant building. Saunter back to the station for your trip back to Rome, where the tour will conclude at the Roma Termini station.
