Your experience
Meet your tour guide at your designated meeting point. Then begin your journey by descending 135 meters below the surface to enter a world shaped out of salt.
Uncover a salt wonderland
With 800 stairs descending 327 meters, the Wieliczka Salt Mine is a one-of-a-kind subterranean realm. Its nearly 3 km of maze-like galleries are steeped in secrets and legends. Bypass long queues and embark on a guided tour to discover beautiful chambers and sculptures carved entirely out of salt and saline lakes, the likes of which cannot be found aboveground. Gain interesting insights into the methods of salt extraction, old mining tools and machines, and means of transport from your expert guide.
Underground artistry
Don’t miss out on St Kinga’s Chapel, adorned with salt sculptures and reliefs that were crafted by miners in the 1700s. The glowing crystal chandeliers shine a light on the chapel’s stunning beauty. As you walk through, spot a sculpture of Pope John Paul II and a relief of Da Vinci’s Last Supper, made entirely of salt.
From depths to daylight
As the tour comes to an end, explore the largest chamber of the mine that hosts balls and sporting events. Then, purchase mementos from the souvenir shop and ride a real mining cart back to the surface.
