I really enjoyed the site: the mines reach a depth of about 300 meters and the path about 130 meters through wooden stairs with more than 800 steps. Especially beautiful was the large Chapel of St. Kinga and the ballroom. I did not really appreciate the fact that there were restaurants, bars and souvenir stores at this depth: all a bit too "touristy" for a UNESCO World Heritage site. Still, it is worth a visit.

What an amazing place to visit, not too be missed! Lots of walking and a queue for the lift at the end but very much worth it! The Headout tickets allowed skipping the ticket queue and worked straight from the app but were a little more expensive than buying on site and queuing.

Very hot waiting for the rep to deliver our ticket . The time we were given was not the tour time which was nearly half an hour later. Our guide in the salt mine was exceptional with a great deal of knowledge of every aspect of the visit. She had humerous way of imparting the information and keeping the group together. A wonderful place to visit.

With 800 stairs, a descent of 135m underground, and around 3km of maze-like galleries steeped in secrets and legends, the Wieliczka Salt Mines is a whole world waiting to be discovered. Bypass long queues and embark on a guided tour to discover beautiful chambers carved entirely out of salt, along with saline lakes, the likes of which cannot be found above the ground. Gain interesting insights into the methods of salt extraction, the old tools and machines used for mining, and the means of transport from your expert guide.

Underground artistry

Don't miss out on St Kinga's Chapel, adorned with salt sculptures and reliefs that were crafted by the miners. The glowing crystal chandeliers shine a light on the beauty of the chapel. As you walk through, spot Pope John Paul II's sculpture and a copy of Da Vinci's Last Supper, entirely made of salt.

From depths to daylight

As the tour comes to an end, explore the largest chamber of the mine which hosts balls and sporting events. Then, purchase mementos from the souvenir shop and ride a real mining cart back to the surface.

Keep in mind electric torches and cigarettes are not allowed on this experience. Pack wisely!
Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along for this experience.

Accessibility

This experience is not accessible by wheelchair. Some of the underground paths on the Tourist Route have been modified to accommodate individuals with limited mobility.
Your guide dogs are welcome at the venue.

Facilities: restroom and lockers.
The temperature underground tends to reach 17–18°C. Dress in layers for adaptable comfort.
In exceptional cases, some of the chambers of the Tourist Route might be excluded from the guided tour.
Telecommunication signals will not reach you in the mine. However, a designated place is available to use free WiFi and make phone calls.
