About Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)
The Grand Egyptian Museum is a crown jewel in any Egypt itinerary, offering a spectacular showcase of pharaonic treasures and innovative exhibits. Located on the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road, the Main Entrance is directly in front of the iconic Hanging Obelisk and the vast open plaza. This is the primary access point for all visitors, including those arriving by car, taxi, or tour bus. The entrance is fully wheelchair accessible, with wide ramps, step-free pathways, and automatic doors. Security screening and ticket validation are conducted here before entry into the Grand Atrium.
Group & tour entrance
Situated adjacent to the Main Entrance, this dedicated entry lane is reserved for pre-booked group tours and school visits. It offers a separate security checkpoint and direct access to the group check-in desk. The entrance is fully accessible, with level surfaces and priority assistance for groups with mobility needs.
Regular Hours: Open Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am to 6pm.
Closed: Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Last Entry: Final admission is at 5pm.
